Meet the Crew: Dominic Parry

What do you do at NASH Maritime?

I’m a Maritime Consultant in the Offshore Development and Energy team. My role spans a wide range of activities, from supporting renewable energy projects like offshore wind and tidal power through Navigation Risk Assessments (NRAs) and stakeholder engagement, to contributing to aquaculture site selection and ports and harbour safety initiatives. I also work on marine safety compliance for complex infrastructure projects, helping ensure vessel operations are managed safely in busy and sensitive environments.

What drew you to working in this area?

Spending time at sea in previous roles sparked my interest in how large-scale offshore projects interact with stakeholders above and below the waterline. Conservation has always been important to me, so working on evidence-based projects that enable sustainable development felt like a natural fit.

What kind of studies are you currently involved in?

I’m currently working on the NRA for a major offshore wind development in UK waters, analysing marine traffic and identifying navigational hazards to ensure safe co-existence with other users. I also support marine safety compliance at a major nuclear power station, assessing navigational risk and helping maintain safe harbour operations. Recently, I contributed to aquaculture site selection in Belfast, evaluating vessel traffic and navigational features to optimise design and minimise risk. Across all these projects, the goal is the same: enabling safe, sustainable development while respecting existing maritime activity.

What’s your favourite thing about the work you do?

The variety. Each project brings unique challenges, such as different locations, stakeholders, and marine environments, which keeps the work engaging and pushes me to learn and adapt. I enjoy collaborating with diverse teams and finding practical solutions that balance development with safety and sustainability.

How does your work support NASH Maritime’s vision?

By delivering evidence-based solutions that make marine development safer and more sustainable. Whether it’s NRAs, stakeholder engagement, or compliance work, my focus is on helping clients make informed decisions that protect people and the environment. This reflects NASH’s commitment to innovation and continuous improvement.

What do you like best about working here?

The team culture. Everyone brings deep expertise and is approachable, creating a collaborative environment where knowledge is shared and ideas are valued. It’s a place that encourages growth and supports you in doing your best work.

What phrase or word sums up NASH Maritime for you?

Robust.

Our work is thorough, resilient, and anchored in evidence, with safety and sustainability at its core. That same robustness is reflected in our team culture, where collaboration and continuous learning drive everything we do. As part of APEM Group, we strengthen this approach by combining NASH Maritime’s specialist expertise in navigational safety with the Group’s wider environmental and technical capabilities, delivering integrated solutions that support safe, sustainable marine development.
